For a powerful spotlight or driving light, the DR500-9 from Pro Vision Lighting & Electrical is one of the best buys on the market today.
This might sound like a simple question, but I'd like to break down a couple of attributes so that you are fully informed.
Spotlights and driving lights in HID can differ from other types of light sources.
A 9" Spotlight in HID still has a "Wash" of light that covers each side of the road, so for a lot of applications, 2x hid spotlights in many cases can be enough to give you distance and spread, especially in the 100w HID version.
In the HID Driving Light version, (we call them a "Euro" beam, some call them wide beam or flood beam), the reflectors are set up to give you both distance and width. For example; at the widest part of the driving beam HID light, you can get a 200mtr width, but you also will bet plenty of distance.
We always recommend a qualified auto electrician to fit high-powered HID's, because every car's electrical system is different and can require an auto electrician to crunch a few numbers to get it right.
HID Spotlights are polarity sensitive, which means they are a relatively simple Power and Earth System. They come with their own relay harness which hooks up to the battery, has their own switch, and plugs into the lights, but of course, most people want to hook them up to their high beam headlight connector so that when they hit their high beam their HID Driving Lights come on. We do have high beam connectors for free if clients want them, but we would advise you that in this case to get an auto electrician to hook them up to the high beam switch for you.
Why?, Because not every car high beam system is actively switched, some are negatively switched, and high beam circuits are engineered for 60w halogen bulbs, so for high powered 100W driving lights, an auto electrician may have to figure out the vehicles switching system, and also check that current draw is not going to affect your lights operations.
In most cases, HID's are easy to fit, but we always recommend an auto electrician fit them for you. In the end, if you want some lights that make it safer to drive at night, then our DR500-9 HID Spotlights and Driving Lights are an affordable solution that will give you years of performance and a massive amount of light on or off the road.
